On July 10, 2023, a team of 11 undergraduate students from Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University, 8 from Department of Social Science and Development and 3 from Department of Sociology and Anthropology, have already arrives at NUS College (NUSC), National University of Singapore (NUS) to participated “Asian Undergraduate Symposium (AUS) 2023”, an annual, two-week long student-run international conference hosted by NUSC and supported by the Temasek Foundation.
Taking place at NUS College from 9 - 22 July 2023, AUS aims to build a platform for undergraduates across ASEAN from various disciplines to come together and engage in meaningful academic and intercultural exchange. This year’s symposium theme is 'Interconnected Communities', further comprising of four subthemes:
• Climate Change & Sustainability
• Heritage & Culture
• Diversity & Inequality
• Wants & Needs (Access to Basic Necessities: Water, Food & Sanitation)
In AUS 2023, 150 participants will engage with domain experts, and collaborate in teams of 6-8 participants, with the goal of crafting a project proposal aimed at addressing their chosen problem statement. Throughout the summit, participants will have the opportunity to:
• Network with other undergraduates from across ASEAN in a multidisciplinary setting
• Engage with domain experts on the theme of Interconnected Communities
• Receive professional training in various workshops on topics such as pitching ideas, proposal writing, and branding
• Represent home and learn about cultures across ASEAN in the Cultural Night finale
